September 8 - Boston and Brazil 4 Mile Race in Cambridge, MA

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- First-time event becomes part of Brazilian Independence Day Festival

Looking for something fun for you AND the family?   Come to the 7th annual Brazilian Independence 
Festival at Magazine Beach in Cambridge on Sunday, September 8th.   Last year several thousand 
people attended the "Sete de Setembro" Festival  and enjoyed the food, music and culture of 
Brazil.  
Not surprisingly, this Festival has become increasingly popular with families in the greater Boston 
area. 

Four Mile Race New for 2002! 
This year's Festival features an exciting run & walk along the Charles River.  The "Boston and 
Brazil 4 Miler" is sponsored by the Discover America and Brazil Foundation.  Runners and walkers of 
all ages and abilities are welcome to participate.  Race entry is FREE for kids age 15 and under!    
Registration begins at 8:30 AM, and race T-shirts will be given to the first 150 entrants.    
Look for the Discover America and Brazil Foundation (DABF) signs directing you over the Memorial 
Drive pedestrian overpass to the registration table and Start/Finish area.   Race results and 
timing are provided by the Yankee Timing race services company.

Parking: 600-740 Memorial Drive, near Polaroid/TraderJoe's/BU Bridge, Cambridge. Pedestrian bridge 
over Memorial Drive near Shell Station
Race: 10 a.m.- noon 
Cash Prizes: $100 for first male and female finishers; 
$75 for second place male and female; 
$50 for third place male and female
